Students for the Ethical Advancement of Technology and Science (SEATS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit which works to jump start a deliberate awareness among students, from the elementary grade level and up, of how current and imminent advances in STEM will affect stakeholders at every level of society. SEATS aims to address a wide range of issues including gene editing, artificial intelligence, data ethics, autonomous vehicles, and the environmental impacts of new technologies.
Our Initiatives are multifaceted and age appropriate. For instance, we developed an after school program in which 5th and 6th grade students learn how to debate ethical issues in STEM.
For the intermediate level, SEATS developed several curricula incorporating role playing modules in which students examine how modern advances in STEM may be leapfrogging ethical considerations. SEATS welcomes any requests or suggestions for topics.

Future goals for SEATS include the creation of high school chapters across the nation and a biennial seminar for students to learn from experts in various fields, discuss STEM developments, and even present their own work.
